"Hey kids! We have a FABULOUS game! Want to play it?"

"Okey dokey, Mr. EA!"

"well here is an eighth of it!"

"but... I want the whole game!"

"That'll be 410 dollars."

Well played, Electronic Arts, well played...

If you need to burn a few hours and have fun doing it, then this game is perfect for you. While the base game only has the basic game content, you can still spend hours building houses, making your Sims successful in life or hey, even killing them if that's what you're into. Each expansion adds hours of awesome stuff to lose yourself in, whether it be tons of new jobs with Ambitions or new types of characters with Supernatural, each one adds it's own little something.

While the game is incredibly addicting, it also has lots of bugs. Some bugs have been around since the start, like the game crashing (happens mostly when you haven't saved for several hours and you just finished building your dream home), others only turn up when you start installing expansions or custom content, like the strechy babies and the hand-bowl (not actually sure where this comes from).

So, yes, I recommend the game, but just be prepared for glitches, crashes and a slight addiction to new content.

With each iteration of this game it just keeps getting slower and heavier and more prone to crashing. Not to mention, more expensive DLC. I'm done buying into this franchise...

The Sims 3 will offend long-time gamers with its DLC-overload marketing strategy, inefficient coding that makes the game slog evenly on laptops and powerful machines (especially if you make the mistake of attempting to mod this game). Even when its exploitation and laziness isn't shoving itself in your face, the gameplay contradicts the primary appeal of the game (it's a sandbox game that takes you away from its sandbox to clean your toilet, cook a meal, go to work, and do other "watch a bar fill up" menial chores far too often). If you're a creative type, you'll likely still have fun with this game, as the sandbox elements, while contradicted by the gameplay style, are quite extensive, and impressive if you're willing to put your time and money into them. But I've already sunk too large a portion of my life into this game with inadequate return on the investment.

Do you wish your computer ran slower? Do you want to spend real money for clothes that are ugly? Do you wish you had a game that crashes every time you launch it? Then EA has a game for you. Combining the best of what EA has to offer, this game features strange error messages, annoying quests, whining simulations, frequent unexpected crashes and the delightful feature of killing your save game if you decide to play for too long. Also, with an extremely limited number of decorating and clothing options (the rest you have to pay for) and the fact that it's an incredibly dull game unless you buy many different DLCs (which not only are almost as expensive as the incomplete base game, but also make the crashes more frequent) this is a must-buy if you want to waste a lot of time and money.

p.s. When I was a kid, *Maxis* made simulation games that were actually fun, interesting, and had no DLC. Yes. That happened. Yes. That made me slightly bitter to this new strategy.
